Slain ‘Iloilo drug lord’ determined to resist arrest —Bato

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa on Saturday said that slain suspected No. 1 drug lord in Western Visayas had an intention to resist arrest.

Dela Rosa told Super Radyo dzBB that of the five suspected big-time drug lords on the President Rodrigo Duterte's drug list in the region, only Richard Prevendido did not present himself to Camp Crame and had remained in hiding.

"Talagang kampante at desidido siya ... hindi ito sumurender. Hindi nagpakita sa atin. Malaking grupo ang Prevendido Drugs Group kaya tiyak na marami pang tauhan si Richard, na nagpapatuloy sa kanilang iligal na operasyon."

Prevendido was allegedly the head of the Prevendido Group, one of the two major drug groups in Iloilo.

His group allegedly shot it out with police personnel serving a warrant for his arrest stemming from his alleged violation of provisions of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The shootout took place at the suspect's hideout in Landheights subdivision in Barangay Balabago, Jaro in Iloilo.

Recovered from Prevendido group  were an AK45 Assault rifle, two caliber .45 guns, bladed weapons, and sachets of suspected shabu. —LBG, GMA News
