Magnitude-5.4 quake jolts Batangas

A magnitude-5.4 earthquake struck nine kilometers southwest of Lian, Batangas at 10:21 p.m.- Sunday, according to an initial report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 197 kms.

The tremor was felt at Intensity II in:

• Calatagan, Batangas,
• Malabon City,
• Navotas City,
• Olongapo City, and
• Bacoor, Cavite.

The quake was also measured at Instrumental Intensity I in Cavite's Tagaytay City, and Bulacan's Calumpit town.

Though no damage was expected from the quake, aftershocks were likely. — DVM, GMA News
