Funeral procession route for Cardinal Vidal interment revised


Cebu officials revised early Thursday morning the route for the funeral procession that would take the remains of Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo Cardinal Vidal to the cathedral museum.

The announcement was posted on Facebook by Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak after it was presented to the media.

"Archdiocese of Cebu has decided few minutes ago that Plan B route will be implemented tomorrow during the Interment of Cardinal Vidal," he said.

The public are advised to stay along P. Burgos Street, turn right to Osmeña Boulevard, right turn to D. Jakosalem Street, then right turn to Colon Street, another right turn to Mabini Street then back to P. Burgos Street then right turn P. Gomez Street where the burial chamber is located.

The Cebu City government has offered free rides for residents who will participate in the funeral mass and procession on Thursday morning. The people were advised to be along the designated streets by 7 a.m.

Vidal, who was Archbishop of Cebu for 29 years, died on Oct. 18 a few days after he was brought to the hospital. — BAP, GMA News
