University president shot dead in Cagayan de Oro City


A university president was killed in gun attack in Cagayan de Oro City before dawn Saturday.

In a report on Super Radyo dzBB, RGMA's Raul Tolibas identified the victim as Dr. Ricardo Enriquez Roturas, president of the University of Science and Technology in the Southern Philippines (USTSP).

Roturas was also the president of the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), the report added. 

An initial investigation showed that Roturas was shot several times by two unidentified assailants at past 1 a.m. in front of his house in an exclusive subdivision in Cagayan de Oro City.

He succumbed to eight bullet wounds in different parts of his body.

Roturas' wife was quoted as saying that  her husband came from a party in the city, and upon reaching the house two men ambushed him. 

Philippine National Police Region 10 has already created a special task force to investigate the incident. —LBG, GMA News
