Pope Francis appoints Iligan diocese administrator

A bishop-caretaker for the diocese of Iligan has been appointed by Pope Francis, according to a post on the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website.

Forty-eight-year-old Dipolog Bishop Severo Caermare was appointed the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Iligan.

He will oversee the concerns of the diocese until Pope Francis appoints a new bishop.

The appointment was made a day after Bishop Elenito Galido passed away.

Galido passed away on Dec. 5, years after battling cirrhosis of the liver. He was 64.

Caermare was ordained priest in 1996 then appointed bishop of Dipolog in 2014. — BAP, GMA News
