Village councilman, watchman nabbed in Cotabato drug raid

A village councilman and a watchman were arrested in separate anti-drugs operations in Makilala, Cotabato, early Monday.

Joint members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cotabato Police Provincial Office arrested councilman Elmer Petecio and watchman Alvin Nguho, both residents of Barangay Guangan.

The operatives raided Petecio's house and seized 11 sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Eleven more sachets of suspected shabu and a .38 revolver were seized from Nguho.

Chief Inspector John Rick Medel, chief of the Makilala Police, said Petecio is included in the local police's drugs watchlist.

Medel said Petecio had surrendered under the Philippine National Police's Oplan Tokhang, but continued drug activities.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against the suspects. —report from Garry Fuerzas/ALG, GMA News
