Employer, 2 others accused of kidnapping maid's baby

A 17-year-old Bocaue, Bulacan house helper on Tuesday accused her employer and fellow housemaids of kidnapping her newborn baby.

The domestic "Remy" told GMA 7 news program  "24 Oras" that she was asleep when her boss, Lolita Rellama, took her four-month-old baby.

Community security cameras recorded Rellama carrying an infant out a house at around 3 .a.m.

She was accompanied by Remy's fellow housemaids identified as Lady Mairel Orlanda and Fritzias Lumanglas.

Bocaue police caught up and arrested Rellama, Orlanda and Lumanglas, all of whom faced kidnapping charges.

The suspects denied the accusation, however, and explained that the child was sick and needed medical attention.

"Pinagamot kasi, tulog 'yung ina. At kagabi pa lang ipinaalam ko na sa kanya 'yun... Walang katotohanan 'yung bintang na 'yon kaya hindi ako nag-aalala na mapawalang bisa 'yung kaso niya," Rellama said.

"Hindi po namin intensyon na kuhanin 'yun. Inaalagaan po namin 'yun," the other suspect added.

Bocaue police commander Police Superintendent Jowen dela Cruz,  said that the suspect's claims and the timing of the incident was questionable.

"Sabi niya ipagagamot. Eh wala naman pong sakit itong bata at makikita naman po natin sa CCTV kung paano po ang ginawa nilang pagplano para sa pagdukot sa bata," Dela Cruz said.

A betrayed Remy confronted her housemates at the police station.

"Kung hindi sana kayo nakisabwatan... Single mom ako. Wala ngang ama 'yung anak ko, tatanggalan mo pa ng ina," she exclaimed. — Margaret Claire Layug/DVM, GMA News
