3 Koreans wanted for fraud nabbed in Pampanga

Joint police and immigration operatives have arrested three Korean nationals wanted in their home country for allegedly defrauding several victims of almost 26 million Korean won or over a million pesos.

Subjects Lim Jiwoong, Lee Minhan, and Park Ji Seok were arrested by agents of the Bureau of Immigration's Fugitive Search Unit and the Pampanga unit of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Angeles City, Pampanga on Tuesday.

According to a spot report, all three Korean alleged fugitives were identified in official communication from the Korean Embassy in Manila as having defrauded victims by "hacking into someone's instant messenger account and thereby collecting sum of money amounting to 25,920,000.00 Korean Won."

Authorities have also tagged them as undocumented aliens posing risk to public safety.

They are likewise in the Interpol's Red Notice, which according to the international police organization is a request to locate and provisionally arrest individuals pending extradition.

"When INTERPOL publishes a Red Notice this is simply to inform all member countries that the person is wanted based on an arrest warrant or equivalent judicial decision issued by a country or an international tribunal," the Interpol says in its website.

On Tuesday, the Korean nationals were brought to the BI's main office for booking procedures and mugshots, according to the spot report. —KG, GMA News
