DENR forester shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunman in Antipolo

A longtime employee of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources shot to death by a lone gunman in Antipolo City on Friday morning.

The DENR said Dominador Lucas, 55, was a forester of Rizal's Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office.

He was walking on his way to work on Taktak Road near the corner of Sumulong Highway when he was attacked between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Lucas died at the crime scene.

The gunman was said to have been riding a motorcycle with no license plate.

Lucas was head of the Compliance, Monitoring and Investigation Unit, and was a PENRO employee for 29 years, having first entered the service in 1989.

He previously presided over administrative confiscation hearings of forest products and vehicles.

DENR said it would seek the help of authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice. —Jessica Bartolome/NB, GMA News
