Lawyer, guard shot dead in Rizal

Two people — a lawyer and a security guard — were shot dead in a subdivision in Cainta, Rizal, by four unidentified suspects, police said Friday.

Rizal Police Provincial Office said the 62-year-old male lawyer identified as Joey Galit and his wife were onboard their vehicle and were about to reach the gate of their subdivision at Apple Village 1 when the suspects shot their vehicle on Thursday.

Based on the investigation, the duty guard identified as Jesus Mateo was also shot after he supposedly tried to grab one of the suspects.

Rizal police said the suspects fled on foot.

Both of the victims were immediately brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Rizal PPO acting director Senior Superintendent Lou Evangelista ordered the chief of the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch to form a Special Investigation Task Group to look into the incident.

Police are still conducting follow-up operations against the four suspects. —Marlly Rome Bondoc/KBK, GMA News
