Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa-la-la-la-la! La-la-la-la! And with a little help from these global furniture and home brands that recently opened in the country, decorating your space this holiday might just be less stress and more easy.
Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids Holiday 2014
In Pottery Barn, expect to see what you expect to see for Christmas.
Always traditional, classic, and nostalgic, Pottery Barn offers Christmas decorations we see in storybooks, in Hollywood films, and in every image many of us call to mind when thinking of the holidays.
Whimsical pieces like Santa Claus plates and mugs, sleigh-shaped serving bowls, snowy winter village scenes, heirloom-inspired silverware, tartan plaid linens and vintage glassware are just some of the familiar yet endearing pieces currently on display at the store.
Homemade Christmas decorations from the 1920’s were the model for their German Glitter Village, each building handcrafted with details like gabled roofs, paned windows, bottlebrush trees ,and snow-dusted wreaths.
A collection of nostalgic pillow covers from cozy knits to sophisticated neutrals and worldly ikats are also available. Plus an array of Christmas stockings made from velvet to luxe faux fur are also a charm.
For Pottery Barn Kids, classic decorations like stockings and advent calendars capture the spirit of the season. The collection also includes dolls and dollhouses, vintage inspired toys, wooden play sets and even playful bed linens.
H & M Home
Hennes & Mauritz AB or H&M opened H&M Home in Robinsons Magnolia last November 20. The bi-level, 3,000 square meter store carries all of the brand’s assortments but was the first to offer H&M Home products in the Philippines.
To introduce the line in the country, H&M Home showcased their Holiday 2014 collection, which the brand describes as “opulent, full of texture, contrast and warmth.” Home decors and accessories ranging from Christmas tree ornaments, to light fixtures, bedsheets, and covers are some of the many festive pieces featured this season. H&M Home Holiday 2014 is modern and subtle. The color palette of gold, red, and silver is dominant but is not flagrant. Instead, they are found in pieces which are meant to accent the Christmas theme. The line relies on its customers’ association of holiday symbols and how they will be mixed and matched to create the festive vibe, rather than blatantly putting these obvious Christmas illustrations in the furniture design itself.
And while there are a few items that suggest a hint of the holidays, like a reindeer sketch, or some gold ornaments, they are still subliminal.

The Crate and Barrel offering is non-seasonal.Crate and Barrel
Another international, multi-channel brand known for exclusive housewares and furniture designs opened its first store in Metro Manila also last November 20. Crate and Barrel, a home and furnishing retailer which operates stores in North American markets, as well as in Dubai, Mexico, and Singapore was brought into the country by SM Retail.
For its opening salvo, Crate and Barrel surprised its customers with almost 2,000 square feet of organized and reasonably priced items. Think P130 for a ceramic multi-colored, multi-functional catch-all plate or mugs and bowls priced below P300. These prices are competitive with locally manufactured brands—and considering they carry the Crate and Barrel stamp, very much add to their selling point.
The Crate and Barrel offering is non-seasonal. This holiday, for instance, do not expect a gamut of Christmas accessories, but instead, you may pick up items necessary to elevate your holiday dining, like elegant flasks or silver salad bowls, items meant to blend with the occasion and at the same time, withstand it. — VC, GMA News
