Pinoy students take home medals from two math competitions in Bangkok

The Philippine delegation bagged several medals at two international math contests recently held in Bangkok, Thailand.
According to a report by GMA News stringer Peewee Bacuño, Filipino students clinched silver and bronze medals at the International Math Challenge over the weekend.
The International Math Challenge is an international inter-school competition among Grade 4 to Grade 9 students from all Thai, Bilingual, and international schools.
During the competition held on Saturday, students from the Fountain International School in San Juan, Manila received the silver medal.
The silver medalists were identified as Omer Fatih Uzum and Amina Umara Turabin Hataman.
Meanwhile, students from the Filipino-Turkish Tolerance School in Zamboanga City bagged the bronze medal.
The same award was received by ninth grade students Yoshiro Abdurahman and Fradzkyne Roosevelt.
This year's International Math Challenge VII was attended by 600 students making up 180 teams from 50 schools from 17 countries.

Aside from this, students from the Philippines also took home 87 medals during the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) held also in Bangkok.
Organized by the Thailand Mathematics Society, the event is said to be open to all students with strong interests in Mathematics.
According to the Philippine Brain Power Society (PBPS), the Philippine delegation won 24 gold medals during the event, 25 silver, and 33 bronze.
The gold medalists during the event were Matthew Shawn Tansiongkun, Jo Aristotle Nikolai Calica, Ralph Benedict Bolanos, Andrei Lenard Chan, Alessandra Basobas, Reilyn Abbigayle So, Aqeel Nikolai Mamutuk, Samantha Lianne Cheong, Anika Gayle Tan, Adrian Guanson Soriaga, Benn Jethro Sia, Alexandra Louis Chan, Sabrina Louis Cheong, and Adrian Alexander Luy.
Tansiongkun also won as champion in the Grade 9 level, while Bolanos won first runner-up and World Star award in Grade 3.
Meanwhile, Mamutuk won second runner-up in Kindergarten.
The silver medalists include Nur Mikhail Ahaja, Candice Anne Hsieh, Hans Cedric Galande, Audrey Christen Tan, Jace Mateus Que, Maxene Janelle Lee, Lance Vincent Canceran, Andrea Margarette Ganancial, Ely Exekiel Miclat, Alan Nageena Mamutuk, Jhann Rainey Ramos, Jullion Louis Que, Enzo Wang, Anastasia Claire Pua, Alexis Griff Genovatin, Ruthchell Gubay, Robert William Ang, Lance Jacob Pichel, Reyhan Aldric Uy, Chelsea Alen Valdez, John Vincent Chua, Wynette Kristi Chua, Brianna Mielle Yeo, Kyla Keith Tan, and Ma. Allyssa Bea Duya.
The bronze medalists are Allesandro Lenard Chan, Jana Mei Villanueva, Nash Adriez Hong, Eunice Stephanie Ang, Alijah Dane Andaya, Mariel Anthonette Jastiva, Louisse Cassandra Ang, Fhershaima Jamalul, Zachary Aiden Hong, Avery Shana Lim, Gabriel Royce Lim, Craig Sabian Sy, Selene Jia Uy, Brylle Zachary Tan, Mia Wilhelmina Ang, Inigo Lorenzo Ku, Aleksey Zac, Miykael Cuares, Miquille Carlia Escalona, Jiro Phoenix Lim, Roi Victor Roberto, Justine Kenneth Co, Ayianna Therese Tan, Vin Cedric Ong, Kim Valerie Sy, Tristan Chase Uy, Sean Derrick Chen, Zachary Thomas Pua, Mikaela Eshe Penaflor, Sam Jacob Uy, Kaitlynne Maree Chua, Theus Gift Edwin Filipinas, Lance Natividad, and Breann Jean Sia.
Aside from these, the Philippine delegation also received 11 merit awards with Zyra Ariana Gabrielle Cuares, Jonathan Gabriel Lay, Jastine Edritz Abon, Derek Limketkai, Bevilen Bibi, Naveen Fahimah Abdisa, Daniel Dimatulac, Gupreet Dol, Claudine Grospe, Dianne Villanueva, and Almira Ava Jamil Abdulsalam.
In terms of medals, the Philippines ranked third with 14 gold medals, following Thailand's 36 gold and Hong Kong's 23 gold. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
