TS Amang maintains strength; rain, gusty winds expected during papal encounter at UST 


Tropical Storm Amang maintained its strength and will likely bring occasional rain and gusty winds to Metro Manila Sunday morning during a scheduled encounter with Pope Francis at the University of Santo Tomas campus.
 
Weather service PAGASA's Sunday morning bulletin said that Amang was 45 km northwest of Catarman, Northern Samar at 4 a.m.; with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gusts of up to 100 kph.
 
Amang was moving northwest at 15 kph, and was projected to be 100 kms northeast Infanta, Quezon Monday morning; 120 kms east-southeast of Aparri, Cagayan Tuesday morning; and 245 kms east-northeast of Basco, Batanes Wednesday morning.

Low lying and mountainous areas under a storm signal are warned against flash floods and landslides.,
