Trinidad steps up as Stags whip La Salle-Lipa Chevrons

Mark Anthony Trinidad banged in 17 points as San Sebastian whipped La Salle-Lipa, 87-48, for its first Group B win in the 8th Fr. Martin Collegiate Open Cup at the Trinity University of Asia gym in Quezon City. Trinidad stepped up for the Golden Stags after key players Ian Sangalang and Calvin Abueva decided to sit out the game. The Stags raced to a 26-15 lead as they limited the Chevrons to just 11 points in the final half of the opening period. In other men's division games, AJ Serjue scattered 12 points to lead Arellano to a 72-66 win over the Informatics Icons for the Chiefs’ second straight victory in Group A. Jinky Balasta buried a game-winning three-pointer with five seconds remaining as the Adamson Lady Falcons slipped past the Lyceum Lady Pirates, 57-54, for their second win in the women's division.
