PNoy wishes ex-girlfriend Shalani a happy married life

President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday wished his former girlfriend, Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad, who will soon be wed to Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo, a blissful and productive married life.   “Our emphasis is always to strengthen a family. We believe a lot of the solutions to the problems in the country will be best addressed by a family that is strong, united and strengthening and caring for the children that they bring into this world,” Aquino said when asked for his message to the couple after an event in Pasay City.   “We hope that this will be what the union of Roman and Shalani will be able to achieve,” he added. He believes Romulo and Soledad “have found the right person in each other and they will be able to nurture the children that they will be bringing into this world to be more responsible, productive citizens joining our society.” Aquino and Soledad had been going steady for two years until they parted ways shortly after he was elected President in 2010. Not sure about attending wedding Asked if he will be attending the wedding on January 22 at the St. Benedict Church in Silang, Cavite, Aquino said, “normally yung schedule ko and my wishes are not synchronized. I have so many roles and all those roles consume all the time that I have available.” He did not give a definite answer to the media, saying, “I don’t look at my schedule earlier than a day or two days before because it really makes one exhausted just reading all the engagements you have to go to. So I don’t know what January 22 has in store for me.”   He added that it takes him four to five months to organize his private time.   “In this particular case, I would have to provide the appointments committee the reasons for attending that particular event. Not my decision, there are so many factors I have to weigh,” he said.   He says his office may have already sent a gift to the couple by now but he does not know what it is. Irish blessing   Earlier in the day at a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda gave an Irish blessing for Romulo and Soledad.   “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back,” he said. - VVP, GMA News
