Phivolcs warns of possible aftershocks after magnitude-4.2 quake hits Cagayan


State seismologists warned of possible aftershocks from a magnitude-4.2 quake that jolted the Cagayan area in Northern Luzon Thursday evening.
 
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was tectonic in origin and was recorded at 6:36 p.m.
 
In its bulletin, Phivolcs traced the epicenter to 4 km northwest of Santa Praxedes town in Cagayan.
 
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at:
  • Intensity III: Santa Praxedes, Cagayan; and Claveria, Cagayan
  • Intensity II: Sancher Mira, Cagayan
While Phivolcs said there was no damage expected, it said aftershocks are possible. –KG, GMA News
