Moon bears and wildlife rescue hotline on 'Born to be Wild'

Airing date: February 28, 2016

In Davao City, residents turn to the 911 hotline for emergencies. The 911 brigade also responds to wildlife missions. Deputized firemen and emergency volunteers are trained by the local government to respond to wildlife emergencies such as when snakes accidentally enter human homes.  Doc Ferds meets the group and visits a rescue center were some of the animals were turned over by the 911 team.

Meanwhile, Doc Nielsen visits a wildlife sanctuary in Vietnam where Sun and Moon Bears are being rehabilitated in the hope of bringing them back into the wild. Most of these bears were rescued from illegal traders.  The bears are placed in semi-wild enclosures to prepare them for their return to the wild.

Don't miss Born to be Wild this Sunday after AHA!
