TF Marawi on alleged looting: 'Please stop spreading misinformation'

Task Force Marawi spokesman Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera on Tuesday appealed to the public to stop "spreading misinformation" regarding the alleged looting by policemen and soldiers in Marawi City.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines' chapter in Lanao del Sur had earlier accused soldiers of conducting illegal searches and seizing properties and possessions of Marawi residents.

But in a press conference, Herrera said that the soldiers are risking their lives every day in clashes against terrorist group Maute, which attacked the city on May 23.

"24/7 nasa frontlines sila just to liberate Marawi City," Herrera said.

"I appeal to our constituents, sa kababayan natin, please stop your assumptions. Please stop spreading misinformation," he added.

Herrera said that victims of the alleged looting may file complaints against servicemen so they can be investigated.

"Puwede niyo sabihin samin para ma-sanction agad," he said.

"Puwede po kayo tumulong sa amin. Magtulungan tayo para matigil ang crisis sa Marawi City," he added.
