Instagram for Android gets key update, supports tablets and WiFi-only devices

The Android version of popular photo app Instagram got a key update this week, bringing support for tablets and WiFi-only devices, and allowing users the ability to install the app on an SD card.   A report on the tech site The Next Web wrote that the features of the update, version 1.0.3, include:   - Support for tablets and WiFi handsets - Allowing app installation on SD card - Fixing audio mute bug during capture - Several small bug fixes and improvements   But the same website said the initial feedback it received showed that the update does not appear to add support for the HTC One X’s camera, at least for now.   Last Tuesday, Instagram released its photo sharing client on Android, getting a million downloads in a day.   Instagram also wrote its own push notification server for the Android app, and is offering it up as open-source.   A separate article on CNET hinted at a possible Windows Phone version, citing a report by All Things Digital, which said that as much as $50 million could be headed to the company in a new funding round.   "That might just be enough to develop a Windows Phone version of the app, just for fun," CNET said. - AMD,  GMA News
