iPhone 5 battery issues reported with iOS 6.0.2 update

Users of Apple devices running the latest version of iOS 6 have reported battery life problems with their devices, tech sites reported this week.

While Apple's new iOS 6.0.2 update for iPhone 5 and iPad mini resolved some Wi-Fi problems, it appeared to cut battery life, according to a report on AppleInsider.

"A handful of readers reached out to AppleInsider to say they have noticed poorer battery life on their iPhone after upgrading to iOS 6.0.2. Specifically, one reader said they noticed their battery draining 'substantially faster,'" AppleInsider said.

It also cited a thread on Apple's official support forums where one user said the update is "absolutely draining my battery."

On the other hand, AppleInsider cited other users who said iOS 6.0.2 resulted in other Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

A separate article on ThinkDigit also said some users complained the Wi-Fi issue has persisted.

"The problem arises when a WPS2 encrypted Wi-Fi network comes into play as the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini have been unable to connect to such networks," it said.

Apple is reportedly working on a fix, it added. — TJD, GMA News
