Apart from Samar, Urduja now threatens Sorsogon too as it picks up speed

Tropical Storm Urduja has slightly accelerated and is now threatening Samar and Sorsogon area, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the weather disturbance was forecast to move west at a much faster speed of 15 kilometers per hour, packing maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 110 kph.

Urduja was last estimated to be 75 km East Northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar or 120 km East Southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar.

Tropical Cyclone Signal Warning No. 2 has now been raised in 10 areas, including:

• Sorsogon
• Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands
• Romblon
• Northern Samar
• Eastern Samar
• Samar
• Biliran
• Leyte
• Aklan
• Capiz
• Northern Iloilo
