Southwest monsoon to bring rains, floods to western Luzon

Rains and possible flooding are expected on the western section of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon, PAGASA said on Saturday.

In its 4 p.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said the monsoon is expected to bring moderate to occasional heavy rains that could trigger possible flooding or landslides in Pangasinan, Bataan, and Zambales.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the rest of Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands and the rest of central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

These could trigger possible flooding in low-lying areas, it added.

For the rest of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected with isolated rainshowes caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, tropical torm Gaemi (formerly Ester) was last spotted 1,030 km northeast of Basco, Batanes, outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

It packed maximum sustained winds of 85 kph, gustiness of 105 kph, moving east northeast at 35 kph. — MDM, GMA News
