TD Josie maintains strength as it moves towards PHL Sea


TD Josie maintains strength Sunday as it moves towards Philippine Sea,  state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said that at 7 a.m. Josie was at 85 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Josie maintained its maximum sustained winds at 60 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph, and moved on its northeast track at 35 kph.

It is estimated to be at 565 km north-northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) 1 over northern Cagayan has been lifted, but occasional rains with gusty winds are still expected over the areas under Signal 1.

Earlier, Signal 1 was still up over the Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands.

PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon(Habagat) will bring monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, rest of Cagayan Valley, Mindoro provinces, Rizal, Cavite and Batangas.

Residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying and in mountainous areas are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices and continue monitoring for updates. —LBG, GMA News
