Trami expected inside PAR Sunday; scattered rain seen over central, southern PHL

Weather service PAGASA reported in a 4 a.m. forecast that the severe tropical storm internationally named Trami was still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Sunday morning, though the storm was expected to enter the PAR later in the day.

Though PAGASA's projections did not have Trami making landfall over any part of the Philippine landmass, the storm's outer bands could affect the northeastern sections of the country.

Trami will be renamed Paeng when it enters PAR.

At 3 a.m. Sunday, Trami was 1,590 kilometers east of Central Luzon, and was moving west-northwest at 20 kilometers per hour.

Trami had 100 kph sustained winds, which could gust up 120 kph.

Meanwhile, Sunday's weather forecast predicted that the Intertropical Convergence Zone would bring cloudy conditions accompanied with scattered rain and thunderstorms over the whole the Visayas and Mindanao, as well as over Palawan.

The rest of the country could also expect generally fair weather, except for some momentary downpours.

Coastal waters over the country's eastern seaboards would be moderate to rough, while sea conditions over the the rest of the coasts would be from slight to moderate. — KG, GMA News
