Typhoon Paeng slightly slows down, maintains west-northwest movement


Typhoon Paeng has slightly slowed down while moving west-northwestward, PAGASA reported in a Severe Weather Bulletin issued late Monday evening.

The eye of Typhoon Paeng was spotted at 10 p.m. on Monday at 795 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 225 kph.

Paeng is moving in the west northwest direction at 15 kph.

Paeng may bring light to moderate rains over northern Luzon on Friday, Sept. 28 while possible hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals the same region on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Sea travel is risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas. — BAP, GMA News
