Ryza Cenon on Osaka Film Fest Win: ‘Nakuha ko ang perlas para sa Pilipinas!’

She's more than the slugger she's become known for as Georgia in "Ika-6 Na Utos."

Kapuso star Ryza Cenon on March 18 received the Yakushi Pearl Award at the 2018 Osaka Asian Film Festival for her brilliant performance in Sigrid Andrea Bernardo's "Mr. and Mrs. Cruz."

"Nakuha ko ang perlas para sa pilipinas!" Ryza declared on Instagram, celebrating her win on cloud nine.

Ryza plays one half of the titular pair, starring opposite JC Santos. The two go on a solo soul-searching trip in Palawan and are mistaken for a married couple as they share the same last name.

Filmmaker Mikhail Red also brought home honors from the festival. Red, whose film "Birdshot" was sent as an official entry to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film, was hailed "Most Promising Talent" for his film "NEOMANILA."
