‘Tadhana’ taping location in Batangas hit by storm surge

Cast members of “Tadhana” have recounted what they felt while going through a storm surge in Laiya, Batangas, where they were shooting the drama anthology.

Laiya was hit by a storm surge due to Typhoon “Quinta,” which brought heavy rains over Luzon and many other parts of the Philippines.

In Nelson Canlas’ “24 Oras” report Wednesday, Cherie Gil said the storm surge reminded her of the devastating tsunami that hit Phuket, Thailand, in December 2004, which claimed more than 200,000 lives and happened while she was there.

“This is somehow a déjà vu or reminiscent of my experience in Thailand,” the actress said in a shaking voice on her Instagram story yesterday.

“I don’t know why I’m being followed by such energy,” she added.

Also at the location were her costars Rochelle Pangilinan and Jon Lucas, who also expressed his fear while the surge was ongoing.

Jon said they had to postpone the taping because they were greeted in the morning by flood inside the resort and in their very own cottages.

The video taken by the drama’s crew also showed the collapsed dining and common areas and other resort facilities.

“Nakita nga po namin mismo na paparating na po ’yung malakas na alon papunta sa mismong venue o resort na pinagstay-an namin,” Jon said.

“Natakot po ako noong nakita ko ’yon dahil sa YouTube ko lang napapanood yung mga ganoong pangyayari, tapos nakita ko mismo, kaya medyo nataranta rin ako,” he added.

According to the report, the crew and the actors immediately packed up and as of Sunday night, were safe and sound back in Metro Manila. – RC, GMA News
