Alma Moreno sued over bouncing checks

MANILA, Philippines – An advertising agency pressed estafa charges against Parañaque City counselor and television personality Alma Moreno, a radio report said Wednesday. DzBB’s Denver Trinidad reported that Media Arts Yielding Ads, Inc. (MAYA) filed a case against Moreno for violating Batas Pambansa 22 or the Anti-Bouncing Check Law before the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office. The report quoted MAYA legal counsel Benedict Malcontento as saying that that Moreno hired the agency’s services to do her campaign collaterals for the 2007 elections. Moreno, however, issued MAYA a bouncing check amounting to P390,000. For her part, Moreno admitted her lapse, and blamed her campaign representative for mismanaging the releasing of checks and failing to supply the necessary amount to her bank account. The Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office posted a P30,000 bail for Moreno. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
