Pete Roa back in hospital ICU

Pete Roa, husband of Movie Workers Welfare Fund (Mowelfund) executive director Ma. Elisa "Boots" Anson-Roa, was rushed to the hospital again Tuesday night. Boots said Wednesday morning she had to cut short a radio interview Tuesday night after receiving word that Pete was rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU). "Pabalik-balik sa ICU, sabi sa nurses balikbayan kami doon (He's been going back to the ICU so frequently we told nurses to treat us like 'balikbayans')," she said in an interview on dzRH radio. She said it was the third time in three weeks since January 31 that her husband, who suffered from emphysema, pneumonia, and vomited blood, was rushed to the hospital. As of Wednesday morning, she said her husband was declared out of danger. The name of the hospital, however, was not disclosed. The Roa couple started their romance on screen in a television dance show in the 1960s. They returned to the Philippines in the late 1990s. In 2003, Pete suffered a bad fall that fractured his hipbone and required a nine-hour surgery. - GMANews.TV
