Kris Aquino's baby James in incubator

James Yap Jr, the newly-born son of television host Kris Aquino and cager James Yap, is doing well but has to be kept in incubator at the Makati Medical Center because it was born premature, radio station dzBB reported Thursday. According to the radio report, Aquino went through a breech birth, meaning James Jr delivered feet first, as opposed to the normal head-first dellivery. Doctors Grace Luna, Alfredo Cabrera, and Arnel Lubid — all of Makati Medical Center — told reporters that they are checking if the baby has an infection because it had already excreted feces before Aquino felt labor pains. Cabrera said the premature labor could also be caused by emotional stress. Aquino has gestational diabetes. Aquino, who was only on her 35th week of pregnancy, was supposed to give birth on May 6. Earlier reports said Aquino went to the hospital around 1 p.m. for a regular checkup, but the doctors had her confined when she started to feel contractions. The popular television host, who has temporarily left her showbiz duties, had been transferred to a private room and will stay there for two to three days. However, it is still unknown for how long James Jr will be kept in the incubator. - AMITA LEGASPI, GMANews.TV
