NBA: Late Grizzlies burst lifts Memphis over Brooklyn

The Memphis Grizzlies scored the last nine points of the game to eke out a close one against the Brooklyn Nets, 76-72, Sunday (Monday, PHL time) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The streaking Grizzlies have now won their last seven games, eight of 10 overall in February, after trading away forward Rudy Gay at the end of January. The Nets on the other hand have now lost back-to-back games, good for a 33-24 card. A 27-19 second quarter put the visiting squad up 43-38 at the break, but an 8-0 blast by Brooklyn, six coming from big man Andray Blatche, to begin the fourth quarter put them on top, 59-57. Baskets by MarShon Brooks and Deron Williams after the Grizzlies equalized handed the home team a four-point lead, 67-63, halfway through the final period. Two jumpers by Mirza Teletovic then gave Brooklyn a five-point edge, 72-67, with 2:50 left on the clock. However, Teletovic's fadeaway turned out to be the last time they would score, as the Grizzlies went on to pour in the final nine markers of the game, while forcing the Nets into five straight misses. All five of the Grizzly starters finished in double-digit scoring, led by Zach Randolph's double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Marc Gasol added 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four blocks, while Tony Allen scored 12. Deron Williams led the Nets with 24 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. CJ Watson poured in 11, but Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace combined to go 3-of-16 from the field. Brooklyn had a miserable shooting night, making just 37.7 percent of their attempts from the field, and 38.5 percent of their foul shots. - AMD, GMA News
