Rivero brothers, Paraiso go on leave from De La Salle Green Archers
De La Salle University stalwarts Prince and Ricci Rivero and Brent Paraiso have gone on leave from the Green Archers men's basketball squad.
Team management announced the development in a statement on Friday, saying "they have implemented a policy that prohibits players to enter into sponsorship agreements with commercial entities."
"This will allow the players to focus on the games and team practices without any restrictions," it added.
"In this connection, team members Prince Rivero, Ricci Rivero, and Brent Paraiso have requested to go on leave from the basketball team to honor their contractual obligations to their existing endorsements."
Team management said the trio, who played key roles for the Green Archers' run to the UAAP Season finals, are still enrolled in the school.
The news is the latest in what has been a tumultuous offseason for La Salle, whose previous coach Aldin Ayo announced his transfer to University of Santo Tomas earlier this month. The Green Archers have appointed Ayo's deputy Louie Gonzales to take over the squad. —JST, GMA News
