Kevin Durant shares how Warriors gear up to prepare for dynasty

For the Golden State Warriors, championship talk only comes when the team is already in the position to earn it.

Kevin Durant on Sunday spent time talking to the Philippine media about how the defending champions prepare for titles.

“When you have a championship team, that’s always the goal to reach but we never talk about it,” Durant said in a sit-down meeting with reporters. “We never talk about the championship or holding up the trophy until we are actually playing for it, which is in the finals.”

The Warriors finished second to the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference, tallying 58 wins and 24 losses. They defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the First Round, 4-1, before steamrolling through the New Orleans Pelicans 4-1 in the semifinals.

They defeated top seed Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals 4-3, before sweeping the Lebron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the finals.

“I think just going about your day, each day, putting the work in, being consistent with your habits, its going to build you up and hopefully put yourself in a position to win three and a row,” Durant added.

“If we go into the season thinking about the finals then we’re not going to get there. We gotta worry about every single day, how we can build those days up to get to where we need to get to, which is the finals.” — BM, GMA News
