Pinoy boxer Randy Petalcorin has won the WBA interim world light flyweight title by stopping Walter Tello of Panama in seven rounds at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, Tuesday.

The southpaw General Santos native dominated from the get-go and dropped Tello with a left uppercut in round seven.

The Panamanian managed to beat the count only to be dropped yet again with a counter right hook followed by a left hand. The fight was stopped shortly after.

"Dreams do come true! Randy Petalcorin is the new world champion," said Petalcorin's manager Jim Caude Manangquil on his Facebook account.

The win improved Petalcorin's record to 22-1-1 with 17KOs while Tello dropped 20-8 with 8KOs. — JST, GMA News
