Roach on Horn fight: If Pacquiao struggles, we might think about retirement

Freddie Roach knows that nothing lasts forever, not even the legendary career of Manny Pacquiao.

Which is why the Hall of Fame trainer will be looking closely at Pacquiao's performance against Australian fighter Jeff Horn this Sunday as a gauge for how much longer Pacquiao can go on.

“If he wins and struggles we might have to think about calling it a day. He's had a quite few fights, we're getting close to the end, I know. I think he has, maybe a couple more fights in him. If he struggles in this fight it could be over,” Roach said.

Roach had previously said Pacquiao is ultimately eyeing a rematch against Floyd Mayweather. To do that, the trainer said he has to acquit himself well against Horn.

"He wants a rematch with Mayweather. To get to Mayweather you have to look good against Jeff Horn," Roach said.

Pacquiao, for his part, isn't looking past Horn.

"We have a really good plan for this fight. We worked hard in training camp both in Manila and in General Santos City. I'm totally focused for this fight," said Pacquiao.

"I am not looking past this fight because at this point in my career, every fight is the most important. There are no tomorrows if I don't win today." —Jamil Santos with JM Siasat/JST, GMA News
