Pacquiao wants rematch with Horn held in Philippines

Manny Pacquiao on Sunday said he would like his rematch with Australian Jeff Horn held in the Philippines.

Pacquiao told radio dzBB that his and Horn's camps have yet to formally talk about a rematch after his lost to the Australian slugger in the Battle of Brisbane in Australia on Sunday.

"May rematch naman so walang problema," Pacquiao said when asked about observations that he should have been declared winner of the match.

"Gusto ko nga, may ganun man, tingnan natni baka puwede dito sa Manila. Dito sana sa Pilipinas," he added.

Both fighters expressed openness for a rematch after their match in Brisbane, Australia.

Horn hinted that he would still want the rematch held in Brisbane, saying he was open to having a "Battle of Brisbane 2."

Sen. Vicente Sotto III, who was in Brisbane to watch the fight, agreed that the next fight between Pacquiao and Horn should be held in the Philippines.

Complaining how the fight was officiated, Sotto said: "Hindi dapat puwede sa Australia na kalahi nila judges and referee."

The senator said Pacquiao fought well, but observed that the referee did not order the deduction of points from Horn because of headbutts that the Filipino sustained during the fight.

"Punches while in headlock were counted for Horn. It's called Hometown Decision!" Sotto added.

Three judges scored in favor of Horn after the 12-round battle, 117-111, 115-113, 115-113.

Punch statistics released by CompuBox, however, showed that Pacquiao dominated Horn by connecting more punches than the Australian. —ALG, GMA News
