Gallardo explodes for eight as Ceres destroys Pasargad, 16-0



Spanish striker Adrian Gallardo Valdes went on a shooting spree to score eight goals in Ceres La Salle FC’s blowout win over Pasargad FC, 16-0, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Saturday.

The reigning United Football League (UFL) champion took their third victory of the season in their initial four games to take the third spot in the rankings while Pasargad drops to 11th spot with a draw and three losses.

Gallardo opened his scoring outburst with goals in the seventh and 30th minutes before adding six more for his side in the second half.

Azkals star Stephan Schrock, who is on loan from Bundesliga 2 squad SpVgg Greuther Furth, recorded a hat trick for Ceres while fellow national team standouts Patrick Reichelt and Carli De Murga took two goals each.

Retired Filipino international and veteran center back Juani Guirado, following his announcement earlier that he is ending his professional playing career after the game, also scored a goal of his own in the 77th minute.

Loyola Meralco Sparks FC thwarted Green Archers United FC, 4-0, to register their third triumph in this season’s top tier football competition.

Archers’ defender Ronnie Aguisanda broke the deadlock with an own goal in the 32nd minute of their meeting while James Younghusband doubled the lead of Meralco three minutes before the break.

Spaniard Joaquin Canas and former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons Jinggoy Valmayor each scored a goal before the end of regulation.

An own goal handed Agila MSA FC their debut victory in this year’s UFL as Rezziel Villaespin of Laos accidently hit the back of his squad's net in the 44th minute of their game. — APG, GMA News
