Golf: Ardina wins first title abroad

Dottie Ardina chipped in from just outside the green for an eagle on the par-5 No. 14 to card a four-under-par 68 in the finale, giving her a four-shot win against Thai Titiya Plucksataporn in the half-a-million baht Thailand Singha-Sat LPGA Championship in Khao Yai, Thailand.

Ardina also made birdies on Nos. 2, 9 and 18, and was almost flawless until a dropped shot on the third hole. Overall, she finished with a 12-under 204 to register her first victory outside the Philippines.

Last year, Ardina, who got a card in the Symetra Tour, the step-up league of the US LPGA, won twice on the ICTSI Ladies PH Golf Tour.

Plucksataporn matched Ardina’s 68 and wound up with 208. Compatriot Nontaya Srisawang scored a 70 for 209 as she settled for second runner-up finish in the 54-hole championship.

ICTSI amateurs Princess Superal and Pauline del Rosario finished on 214 as each carded an even 72 and were tied for the low amateur tiara.

Other Filipinas who joined were Cyna Rodriguez (74-217), Mia Piccio (71-224), Chihiro Ikeda (73-226), Sarah Ababa (72-226) and Lovelyn Guioguio (77-237). - RAF, GMA News
