PBA to look into shortening the Governors' Cup, synch schedule with practices of the national team
PBA Chito Salud said Thursday following a meeting with the Board of Governors that the league will continue to make adjustments in the light of the Philippines landing the hosting job for the FIBA Asia Tournament, though no specific plans have been drawn up yet. Salud also talked about shortening the third conference, the Governors' Cup, which was originally scheduled to begin May 12 and end July 28. Given that the start of the FIBA Asia Championship is August 1, Salud recognized the untenability of the situation, calling it "impractical," but again said "details will follow." Finally, the commissioner said "I intend to sit down with [national team head coach] Chot [Reyes]," following the on-going Super Kung Sheung Cup, to talk about future practices and other international tournaments the Gilas squad would want to join, in order to synch those events up with the Governors' Cup schedule, regardless of its final form or length.
