Gilas secures Finals berth in HK Invitationals

Niño Canaleta had 18 points while Marcus Douthit added 13 as the Philippines defeated the Changsha Park Lane Snow Wolves, 90-69, on Saturday at the 19th Super Kung Sheung Cup held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai, Hong Kong.

Gilas leaned on a strong first quarter, overwhelming their young opponents with a 26-9 first period. The Snow Wolves responded by equaling the Philippines output in the second and third quarters, 41-all, but the huge 67-50 spread to start the fourth was too large to overcome.

 

Letran star Kevin Alas added 10 points off with an 80 percent shooting clip to round up the Philippines' top three scorers. 

 

Gilas will have little rest, as the squad will play for the big prize at 3:30pm tomorrow against the winner of the match between Southern California Fukienese Association and Hong Kong. - RAF, GMA News
