Patrick announced the collaboration on his Instagram account and said he is grateful and proud to be the first artist in the Philippines that the international brand has chosen to work with.

Most of Patrick's works feature endangered species. But for his collaboration with Starbucks, he chose to showcase the mythical creature of the Maranao people in Mindanao, the Sarimanok.

In his IG post Patrick explained the significance of his design. He said, “I know my work is mostly focused on endangered species, but I truly believe that preserving cultural heritage is also of equal importance.”

The collection was launched on June 9, just a few days before the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

And it seems like this is Starbucks's way of celebrating the Filipino people's artistry and culture.
