Kris Lawrence to release his first NFT song

By Nherz Almo

Kris Lawrence happily announces that his new single will be released as an NFT.

NFT or non-fungible token is a digital asset (image, video, GIFs, and more) which has a unique identity and its ownership is verified through a blockchain--a secured system of recording information that is difficult or impossible to change, cheat, or hack.

In a short chat with the RnB singer, he mentioned that his song “Future Girl” would be his first NFT song to be released in a new NFT market called SongRise.

“At the moment, I am the only Filipino on this platform. Parang ako yung inaugural artist on this platform, so I'm very, very excited about this project,” Kris said.

At the moment, according to the OPM artist, “Future Girl” is in the process of minting, which turns digital files into an NFT that can be bought using cryptocurrency.

“We are gonna mint only about 250 copies of this NFT song,” he said.

“With this whole NFT place, it's very, very new. Like I said, it's very limitless and millions and millions of that are still being explored to this day.

“The way I plan to use this NFT, kung may bibili ng NFT ko, puwede silang maka-discount sa concert ko [in the future]. If you show me your NFT, you can get 50 percent off on all of my KL merch, parang ganun, you can use it like that.”

Kris also noted, “I really see this as the future.”

While he started on building his digital assets, Kris said that he would still create songs that are for commercial release.

“I'm going to tap as many venues as I can. I'm still doing the music thing via the 'old-fashioned way.' I'm still releasing songs; I have a couple of collaborations like, with Arthur Nery; I have a new cover that's releasing on 2.2.22 [February 2, 2022] and I decided to cover Ms. Regine's [Velasquez] song 'Dadalhin.' You know, I have a timeline of about five songs that are to be released this year.”

“Future Girl,” which also comes with a digital artwork, is Kris' collaboration with Kuya Productions in Canada.

Prior to Kris Lawrence, local celebrities such as Heart Evangelista and Manny Pacquiao have released their NFTs.

On the other hand, Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray were among the iconic beauty queens featured on Miss Universe's first beauty pageant NFTs.
