Beatrice Luigi Gomez kicks off Pride month on her IG

By Ron Lim

Even without the Miss Universe Philippines crown, Beatrice Luigi Gomez continues to advocate for causes close to her heart, such as the plight of the LGBTQIA+ community.

In her latest post on Instagram, Beatrice put up a photo of herself wearing a rainbow gown along with the words “Walk Proud” superimposed over the image. In the caption to the post, Beatrice simply wrote “Happy PRIDE unicorns,” in reference to Pride Month, which began this June 1.

Beatrice is the first openly bisexual contestant to win the Miss Universe Philippines crown. During her time in the competition, she brought up her then six-year relationship with Kate Jagdon.

This Instagram post isn't the first time that Beatrice has advocated for the LGBTQIA+ community. Last month, she took part in a life insurance company's event for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, or IDAHOBIT 2022.

Her advocacy for the LGBTQIA+ community is just one of the many causes that Beatrice has advocated for during and after her reign. Before handing over her crown to Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi, Beatrice participated in a menstrual health initiative alongside Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu.

Beatrice also worked closely with the Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette, conducting relief operations in Mantayog, Mandaue , and Compostela, Cebu.
