Winning the Sports Challenge could ensure a semi-final spot for Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol.
There's just two weeks left before the Miss World finals is held in Mumbai, India and Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol continues to take on the competition's challenges as she works her way to the crown.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne posted multiple photos of her wearing a salmon pink athletic outfit. In the caption to the post, Gwendolyne shared that the outfit was for the qualifying round of the Miss World pageant's Sports Challenge, which seeks to determine who is the “fittest of them all.” The Sports Challenge was introduced to the Miss World pageant back in 2003 and is a preliminary event that automatically enters its winner into the pageant's semi-finals.

The Sports Challenge is the latest preliminary event that Gwendolyne has taken on as she competes in the Miss World pageant. Recently, she rocked a red ensemble while presenting her Beauty With a Purpose advocacy to the Miss World selection committee.
Before that, Gwendolyne also shared her advocacy video on her Instagram account. The video explained why quality education is important to Gwendolyne and included her call for collective action to address this through “the implementation of appropriate technology, increased investment, and sound policies.”
Gwendolyne had earlier caught attention during the Miss World opening ceremonies with her national costume inspired by authentic Ilonggo textiles and that she explained represents the “Filipina's craft spirit of dignity, growth, and joy.”
Even before arriving to India to compete, Gwendolyne had already debuted her Miss World introduction video on her Instagram account, along with a caption asking Filipino pageant fans to visit her profile on the Miss World website.
Gwendolyne announced the release of her official Miss World headshot on her Instagram account.
The Miss World finals is set to happen on March 9, 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India. Gwendolyne was initially set to compete in the Miss World pageant back in December 16, 2023 when it was first scheduled at the ICC Delhi India, but the finals were moved due to elections that were happening in India at the time.
