By Michelle Caligan

The last few days have been heartbreaking for Shawols as SHINee's youngest member Taemin enlisted in the military today, May 31.

Photos and videos of his arrival at the training center have spread all over social media, and his SHINee members also posted their photos with him prior to enlistment.

On Sunday, May 30, Onew, Key, Minho, and Taemin, who is already sporting a shaved head, got together for lunch and took a group photo.

“Have a safe trip!” Key wrote in the caption.

Meanwhile, Minho posted his photo with Taemin today while they are in the car together.

He wrote, ”Taemin, take care of yourself. I'm always on your side. I love you and support you.”

Fans have also been sending messages to Taemin on Twitter using the hashtag #DearMyTAEMIN, reassuring the singer that they will wait for him and will never leave his side.

Taemin made the announcement of his 18-month long hiatus through an emotional live broadcast on SHINee's Vlive channel last April 19. He also released his third mini album Advice on May 18.

The K-pop idol debuted as the maknae (youngest member) and main dancer of contemporary K-pop group SHINee on May 25, 2008. He released his first solo track “Danger” in 2014, becoming SM Entertainment's first soloist from an active idol group.

The group recently celebrated its 13th anniversary and will release a new Japanese album SUPERSTAR on July 28.
