Hannah Arnold ends her Miss International journey in the Top 15

By Ron Lim

Binibining Pilipinas International Hannah Arnold bid for the Miss International crown has landed her in the Top 15.

The beauty queen did not make it to the Top 8 of the competition, which was announced after the pageant's swimsuit competition. The Top 8 candidates that moved on to the next round include the Dominican Republic, Cabo Verde, Germany, Jamaica, Colombia, Spain, Canada, and Peru.

Aside from the eight candidates above, Hannah made it to the Top 15 alongside France, Finland, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Northern Marianas, and the United Kingdom.

Earlier in the day, Hannah had posted a photo of her at the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar wearing a Filipiniana gown designed by Manny Halasan. Nicknamed “Pamana,” the costume is inspired by a Barbie doll wearing Filipiniana that Hannah had as a child, as well as Manny Halasan's own fond memories of his grandfather's antique tambourine.

Hannah's Top 15 finish ends her year-long wait to compete in the Miss International pageant, as the competition was not staged last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hannah had the full support of the country behind her, with two send-offs organized for her before her flight to Japan . The Department of Science and Technology organized a send-off for her that she called “beautiful and heartwarming” and moved her to promise that she would raise the flag not only of the country but science and technology as well.

The Binibining Pilipinas organization also organized a send-off for her that she described as “a dream come true.”

If Hannah had won the crown, she would have become the seventh Filipina queen to do so, following Gemma Cruz, Aurora Pijuan, Melanie Marquez, Precious Lara Quigaman, Bea Santiago, and Kylie Verzosa.
