'The Apothecary Diaries' is getting an original film in 2026

The hit anime "The Apothecary Diaries" will have an original film in 2026!

TOHO Animation made the announcement in the video trailer commemorating the series' second anniversary.

The film will feature an original story by "The Apothecary Diaries" author Natsu Hyuuga. It is already under production and will premiere in cinemas on December 2026.

"The Apothecary Diaries" follows the adventures of Maomao, a smart apothecary girl who ends up becoming a food taster inside the Imperial Court of a country inspired by ancient China. She gets embroiled in court politics, secrets, and plots and tries to solve cases of the inner palace.

The series is originally a light novel which later got adapted into manga and anime. The anime's first and second seasons are currently streaming on Netflix. A third season has also been announced.
