Morissette Amon nominated for Best Actress at 58th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival

Morissette Amon has been nominated for the Best Actress award at this year’s WorldFest Houston International Film Festival.

The Filipina singer-actress was nominated for her performance in the film “Song of the Fireflies.”

Morissette is in contention for the award alongside Brazil’s Suzana Piers for “Cancer with Virgo Rising” and USA’s Devin Sidell for “Love, Danielle.”

Directed by King Palisoc and written by Sarge Lacuesta, "Song of the Fireflies" is inspired by the story of the Loboc Children's Choir in Bohol and its founder Alma Taldo, played by Morissette. The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Manila International Film Festival in March.

Meanwhile, those nominated for the Best Actor award are Germany’s Timo Jacobs for “Impostors and Ponies,” USA’s Phillip-Charles Daniell for “Stitched,” and USA’s Steve Martini for “Bittersweet.”

The 58th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival is being held in Houston, Texas, and will end on May 4.

The event “showcases a rich tapestry of films from diverse cultures. This year, we celebrate creativity and innovation in independent cinema.”

The awards ceremony is scheduled for May 2 and will take place at the River Oaks Theater.
