Sinampahan ng Bureau of Corrections ng mga reklamo--kabilang ang pandarambong at pagwawaldas ng pondo ng bayan-- si suspended BuCor chief Gerald Bantag, at iba pa.
Isinampa ni BuCor acting chief Gregorio Catapang ang mga reklamo sa National Prosecution Service ng Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Lunes.
Bukod sa plunder at malversation of public funds through falsification of official documents, inireklamo rin Bantag ng paglabag sa anti-graft and corruption law, at violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Kabilang sa mga reklamo laban kay Bantag ay may kaugnayan sa P1 bilyon pondo na nakalaan para sa pagpapagawa ng tatlong prison facilities sa Davao Prison and Penal Farm (Lot 1), Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm sa Puerto Princesa, Palawan (Lot 2) at Leyte Regional Prison (Lot 3), na ipina-bid noong September 17, 2020, na nagkakahalaga ng P300 milyon bawat isa.
"Respondent Bantag in conspiracy with, and with indispensable complicity of, the other herein respondents, has purposely and systematically orchestrated the diversion/misappropriation and/or consenting or permitting other persons, to take public funds, of the Bureau of Corrections," saad sa reklamo.
Nagsimula umano ang plano ni Bantag sa pag-divert o pag-"misappropriate" ng pondo nang bumuo ang dating opisyal ng hiwalay na Bidding and Award Committee (BAC) ng BuCor para sa naturang mga proyekto.
Kasama sa mga inireklamo sina Correction Technical Superintendent Arnold Jacinto Guzman, Correction Inspector Ric Rocacurba, Correction Inspector Solomon Areniego, Correction Technical Officer 1 Jor-el De Jesus, Correction Technical Officer 2 Angelo Castillo, at Correction Technical Officer Alexis Catindig.
