Alay-Lakad elects new officers, trustees
The Alay-Lakad Foundation has elected a new set of officers and board of trustees during its 13th general assembly at Camp Crame in Quezon City. The foundation elected civic leader and businessman Frank Evaristo as president, Frank Layug as vice president, and Robert Quintana as treasurer. The secretary will come from the Young Menâs Christian Association of Manila headed by Judge Tingaraan Guiling while the assistant treasurer will come from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) headed by BSP national president Jejomar Binay. Members of the board include the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Gen. Francisco Atayde, Dr. Teruko Haga, the National Youth Commission, the Police Accredited Radio Communication Network Inc., Pugad Lawin Philippines Inc., the Regional Emergency Assistance Communication Team, the Iligan City Chapter, the Batangas Province Chapter, and the Padre Garcia Batangas Chapter. The permanent members of the board include the Armed Forces of the Philippines headed by Gen. Eduardo Oban, the Department of Education headed by Secretary Armin Luistro, the Department of Interior and Local Government headed by Secretary Jesse Robredo, the Philippine National Police headed by Director General Raul Bacalzo, the Philippine Information Agency headed by Atty. Jose Fabia, the Junior Chamber International Philippines headed by Bernard Faustino Dy, the Kiwanis International headed by Gov. Romeo Mariano, the Lions Club International headed by Gov. Robert Roque, the Rotary Club International headed by Gov. Ernesto Chua, and the National Coordinating Committee chair. President Benigno Aquino III sits as the honorary chair of Alay-Lakad. This year, it is the turn of JCI Philippines headed by Dy to lead the National Coordinating Committee for Walk 2011. The foundation has funded educational assistance amounting to P55,000 and livelihood seminars and training workshops amounting to P120,000 for out-of-school youth projects. This yearâs annual Walk-for-a-Cause is scheduled on September 4, Sunday, at the Quirino Grandstand in Luneta, Manila.
